Year 13 Samoan

Course Description

This course builds on Level 2 Samoan. The units are contextually based on covering a variety of topics in a more formal situation. This course will encourage students to accomplish everyday tasks using Gagana Samoa and help them communicate thoughts and opinions in the language.

Students will learn to exchange experiences, information and points of view. They will learn to act/behave appropriately with respect to fa’asamoa. An important aspect of this course is the Independence celebration (annually) as well as several other cultural events which we will explore throughout the year. It will give insight to Samoan society, its language and customs. Five language standards are completed this year. Internal assessment will focus on speech, conversation and writing. The external examination will focus on listening and reading aspects of the course.

If student numbers are low then this course is likely to run via Te Kura corrsepondance school. Student must have their own devices to enrol in a Te Kura course.
