Year 13 Art History

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: K. Baird

In Level 3 Art History we study one broad topic: Modernist Design and Architecture 1900-1960 and two minor topics: Early Modernism 1900-1940 and Contemporary Diversity 1990-present. These topics cover a range of artistic styles, meanings, theories, and media. We will investigate buildings, designs and art works from Europe and America as well as examples from within New Zealand and also consider what was going on in society at the time to influence these artists, designers and architects. Scholarship Art History is also an option for students who are interested in working toward this in addition to their Level three studies.
