Would you like to learn how to make and decorate a special dress for a little girl in Africa?
Are you interested in learning how to design and create a sports or overnight bag that meets your needs?
This course is open to both Level 1 and 2 students.
This is a practical-based course for students interested in fabric decoration techniques, fashion design and garment construction or for those who love to design and sew as a creative outlet. Students will learn how to adapt simple patterns to create new styles and work with different fabrics to create fashion items. Each student has the opportunity to explore their own interest in fashion and to develop their own sense of style. Students will complete two practical projects with supporting design work.

Adapting a pattern to create a sports/overnight bag
The course consists of Level 1 Achievement Standards and Level 2 Unit Standards, and also provides the opportunity for endorsement.
Opportunity to enter regional and national competitions

Recommended Prior Learning
Year 9 Fashion and Design or an interview with Head of Department.
No need for students to have completed Year 10 course.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
This course is approved for University Entrance.
Total Credits Available: 23 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 3 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 20 credits.
Further assessment opportunities will not be offered for this standard inline with NZQA guidelines
