Level 3 Civics (CIV303)
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms K. Baird.
The Level Three Civics programme is a 18 credit, unit standard based course, aimed at those students who may struggle with main stream subjects and enjoy a more real world, practical focus. Students in this course will investigate the Law, how it is made, how it is enforced, and how it impacts on peoples lives, rights and responsibilities as workers and young people, how we vote and take part in the community as active citizens, career planning, financial literacy, and how societies works within NZ and overseas.
This course is designed to be taken alongside COM303, WOW303, and Tourism to give students the skills they need to succeed in the workforce when they leave school.
All units of work are internally assessed and contribute credits towards NCEA Level 3.
Level Three Civics is not an approved subject for University Entrance as the assessments are Unit Standards. Students can not take CIV and SUS as there is some content cross over.
