Course Description

Students will investigate social justice and human rights issues throughout the world. They will study key historical events and investigate actions, ideas and the movement of people through time. They will examine the interrelationships of people in various societies, including those relating to our own Treaty of Waitangi.

Actions and Ideas - Understanding how the ideas and actions of people in the past have had a significant impact on the lives of others.
Human Rights - Understanding what human rights are and how and why people and groups have sought them throughout history.
Push and Pull - Understanding why people and groups have moved form place to place and the impact this has on people and places.
The Treaty- Understanding why the Treaty of Waitangi was written in 1840 and how and why people and groups have responded to it in different ways.
