10DTC

Year 10 Digital Technology

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Miss M. Nicholl.

In 10DTC students will continue to develop and master essential digital skills in preparation for NCEA Level 1 Digital Technology. The year will consist of four major projects where students have an opportunity to develop and showcase their digital talents. We start the year by learning Adobe skills, including Photoshop and Illustrator. We solidify these Photoshop skills by having students create a "Mood board" that encapsulates them as a person, photos, interests, colours, etc. We then transfer these skills into designing logos for a selected team/group/club/subject or activity.

Students will be developing their web design skills through using Wix and HTML/CSS coding. Students will gain insight into how animations are created, and why animators focus on certain designs for characters. Students will also build foundations in Python coding and gain experience in 3D modelling and creating a 3D environment , which will be used in Year 11 for Level 1 Digital Technology. The emphasis will be on developing a digital outcome at the end of each project.
