Year 10 Fashion and Design

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: A. McIntosh

This is a practical-based course for students interested in fashion or design or for those who love to design and sew as a creative outlet. The course includes developing creativity, learning about colour, improving sewing techniques and creating fashion garments and textile items. Students complete a range of products, experiment with fabric decoration techniques (such as screen printing, hand embroidery, patchwork and applique) and use fashion drawing skills to present a fashion portfolio. Each student has the opportunity to explore their own interest in fashion and to develop their own sense of style. Students will complete four practical projects with supporting design portfolio work.

Topics include:
Make a simple garment
Use patchwork and embroidery techniques to make a product
Decorate and create your own hoodie
Recycle denim clothing to create a new product
