Course Description

This course is designed for students as an entry point to Tertiary study or full-time employment. It is a year-long vocational programme that allows students to achieve NCEA Level 2.

The Wellington Trades Academy (WTA) is a partnership between Sacred Heart College, WelTec and Whitireia. Students spend three days a week at Sacred Heart College and two days a week at Trades Academy. WTA courses include: Construction Trades; Creative Technologies; Engines; Early Childhood Studies; Salon Environment; Animal Care; Sport and Fitness; Hospitality; Engineering and Automotive; Hair and Beauty Salon Support; and Animal Care.

Recommended Prior Learning

Eligibility for Trades Academy is by application and selection interview. Applicants are expected to have a strong work ethic, sound organisational skills, and an excellent attendance record.
