Course Description

Biology is a fascinating subject, relevant to many careers. Level 2 Biology builds on the aspects of genetics and variation learned in Level 1. We also learn about essential processes at the cellular level in plants and animals. Students carry out a field study at the rocky shore to investigate the adaptations and relationships of the organisms found there. We look at how blood sugar is regulated in the human body and what happens when this goes wrong.

The course offers 3 internally assessed achievement standards and 2 externally assessed achievement standards. Students are able to gain up to 15 credits at level 2 and 3 credits at level 3. Students can gain endorsement with Merit or Excellence in Biology.
