Year 12 Employment Studies

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: C. Free

This full year course covers many different aspects of employment related skills, including: rights and responsibilities; decision making in the work place; problem solving; budgeting; working as part of a team; and careers education. Students work on developing the skills needed for future employment, study and independent living.

All units of work are internally assessed and contribute credits towards NCEA Level 2.

GATEWAY
Students taking this course also have the opportunity to participate in Gateway, a workplace learning programme for those interested in a particular career pathway, industry or field of work. Gateway programmes currently offered include:

Open entry, however a positive attitude and desire to achieve are essential.

Eligibility for GATEWAY programmes is by application and selection interview. Applicants are expected to have a strong work ethic and excellent attendance record.
